There are three ways to defrost this pound of ground beef…
Just leave it in the refrigerator…which is the safest way…but that’ll take 24 hours!
In the sink…that’ll take an hour or so.
Just wrap the beef in a totally leak proof bag.
Submerge it in cool water and just let it sit there.
Change the water after 30 minutes.
Or in the microwave…that’ll take about 7 minutes.
...remove it from its packaging…and put it in a microwave safe dish…then cover it with plastic wrap.
Set your microwave to defrost or 30% power.
After about 2 1/2 minutes…remove the dish from the microwave then…break apart… and …rotate the meat.
Microwave for 2 more minutes and then break apart and rotate again.
If some of the corners are getting warm or cooked…remove them to a separate dish and continue to defrost the beef.
Never just let it sit on the counter to defrost, or you’ll risk bacterial growth!
Be sure to cook all defrosted meat before refreezing it.
